Akbar’s Story
Employment Mentoring to Become an Architect
Akbar is an architect with an advanced degree and 16 years of experience. When he arrived in Canada, he was unsure of how to find work in his field or how to get his credentials recognized. He was referred to our Employment Mentoring program and received 1-1 support to navigate the pathways to a career in architecture. When attending a Mentoring Workshop, he connected with a mentor that was a registered architect in BC who was able to directly provide guidance. He also completed courses at BCIT to upgrade his credentials. Akbar is now employed as an architectural technologist and is completing an internship to become a registered architect in Canada.
